Each kindergarten offers two sessions a day, morning and afternoon, three hours in duration. The children are encouraged to learn by following their own lines of interest and inquiry and are also actively engaged in teacher-led learning activities. A typical session involves welcome and circle time, small and large group activities that cover a range of curriculum areas, open time where children have the freedom to select from a range of structured activities, and ending with a final circle time for group story time or music. All aspects of the programme carefully planned to encourage learning through play activities that support the children in their exploration, discovery and investigation while building skills and knowledge.
The programme reflects the kindergartens' PYP curriculum being planned around units of inquiry and is structured upon principles of good early years education. Early literacy and numeracy are integral to the programme.
Mandarin Chinese is the specialist language and is integrated into the programme, forming a core aspect of the curriculum.
