The tuition fee for the academic year 2016/17 is HK$74,000, payable over ten months, at HK$7,400 per month. Tuition fees are due on the first day of the month and are deducted monthly by autopay. The first month's fee is usually payable on acceptance of a place at kindergarten or three months in advance of a child starting kindergarten after a place has been accepted, whichever is later. Since the fees for 2016/17 have not been determined, parents are requested to pay HK$7,400 to secure an offered place. This will be adjusted once the fees have been set.
Fees will be reviewed every year and any changes are usually advised before the start of Term 3 prior to the start of the new academic year. Any increase in fees is subject to approval by the Education Bureau.
An application fee of $500 applies to all applications for the academic year 2016/17, which is pending approval from the Education Bureau; however, until the approval is obtained, a fee of $40 will be charged with effect from 1 February 2017. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable for each application and that the collection of fee constitutes no assurance that a school place or interview will be offered. The fee does not provide any priority over the allocation of a morning or afternoon session, which are randomly allocated in order to ensure equal opportunities for all successful applicants. Income from application fees, as a whole, is intended to cover the administrative cost of the online application system as well as the staff cost of the play visit and parental interview for admission assessment purposes. Children may be invited back to the kindergarten for a second visit if the school needs further information on the child. The kindergarten may involve the special educational needs advisor in this visit.
Taking up a Place
The securing of a place after an offer has been made requires (1) the purchase (at a cost of HK$7,000) of a refundable debenture and (2) payment in advance of the first month's school fees.
If a child is withdrawn from the kindergarten prior to the commencement of the academic year, the first month's school fees will not be refunded and the debenture will not be redeemed unless two months' advance written notice is provided to the kindergarten.
One refundable debenture must be acquired for each child attending the kindergarten before entry of such child into the kindergarten.
The refundable debenture will be redeemed on the earlier of: (a) the date the child (for whom this debenture was acquired) graduates from the kindergarten, which is normally at the end of K2, or (b) the expiry of 2 months' notice in writing to the kindergarten of the child's withdrawal from kindergarten provided that all fees due to ESL have been fully paid at that date. If neither of the above is satisfied then this debenture will not be redeemed.
If a child is withdrawn from the kindergarten prior to the commencement of the academic year, ESL will not redeem the debenture unless two months' advance written notice is provided to the kindergarten and advance fees have been fully paid.
Students moving from K1 to K2
Parents whose child is already in kindergarten and who would like to reserve a place for the following school year are required to make an advance payment of September's fees in August to secure the place.
Holiday programmes may be offered for enrolled children only and can be accessed at an additional fee. Kindergartens will send information and enrolment information to parents early in the summer term.
